Kylesku Hotel Overview

Location: Assynt, Sutherland, Scotland

The Kylesku Hotel is located in picture postcard situation in Assynt, one of Scotland’s most spectacular and remote areas on the south west coast of Sutherland. Once a coaching inn in the late 19th century, the Kylesku sits in an elevated position by the dock of the former Kylesku to Kylestrome ferry. The nearby and striking Kylesku Bridge was opened by the Queen in the 1980’s and heralded the retirement of the ferry, saving travellers a 100 mile diversion. The hotel is on the Scotland’s popular North Coast 500 route.

The current owners took over the Kylesku in 2009 and have refurbished the hotel in a boutique style with 11 rooms decorated and fitted in bright and airy modern style with traditional accents. Many of the rooms are loch facing and some are dog-friendly.

The Kylesku are rightly proud of their restaurant which focuses first and foremost on locally caught and sourced seafood and ingredients. The hotel has a well-stocked bar and there’s a residents’ lounge with views over Loch Glendhu and the surrounding mountains.

Assynt offers spectacular beaches and the chance to walk and hike in one of Scotland’s most beautiful and remote areas. As well as walking there’s an abundance of local wildlife, some great shops, potteries and cafes, boat trips and fishing.
