Crinan Hotel Overview

Location: Crinan, Argyll , Scotland

The Crinan Hotel has been an institution on Scotland’s beautiful West Coast for many years and it’s easy to see why. The hotel’s location is spectacular, standing on the waterfront at the northern end of the Crinan Canal and overlooking Loch Crinan. The Crinan Hotel has been the heart of this small local community for over 200 years and is renowned for great hospitality including fresh seafood landed on the doorstep .

The guest rooms all benefit from exceptional sea views, some have their own private balconies and each is dedicated to a noted Scottish artist.  The hotel offers a choice of dining options including the gourmet Westward Restaurant, which specialises in locally caught and sourced produce. The hotel also has a bistro, the Crinan Seafood Bar, serving seafood landed a few metres away on the Crinan quayside.  

The hotel has its own pub, known locally as The Panther Arms, and a short distance from the hotel is their coffee shop, offering fresh baking, soup and sandwiches. Their cosy rooftop restaurant, Lock 16, is open at weekends during the summer months and can be booked for private parties.

The Crinan Hotel has been run by the Ryan family for over 50 years and Frances Ryan and her son Ross are established Scottish contemporary artists. The hotel is a renowned West Coast gallery venue and holds regular exhibitions.

As well as a being popular with walkers and hikers, Crinan is a very popular sailing and yachting destination. Boat trips are possible around the coastline and may even take in the nearby Corryvrekan Whirlpool. Crinan is well placed for both Inveraray and Oban and Kennacraig to the south accesses the ferry to the islands of Islay and Jura.
