As the weather becomes warmer, attractions come into full bloom and with plenty of bargains to be snapped up you really have no excuse! Here’s a few of the best motives to take a city break in spring with some great example destinations.

Perfect Climate – Athens

The best time to visit this ancient city is defiantly spring, by avoiding the tiring soaring temperatures of summer it gives you more exploring time with a quieter atmosphere. Many of Athens restaurants and café’s are outdoors and the spring weather is just ideal for a perfect dining experience, there’s no need to hide in the shade (average temperature in May is 21 degrees.)

As part of International Museum Day on the 18th May this year, Athens hosts free entry to the majority of their Museums, giving you a great insight into the history and culture of Greece and to visit attractions that you might usually not try. This happens in over 140 other countries with roughly 35,000 museums taking part!

Spring only Attractions – Amsterdam

The warmer weather sees some destinations ‘spring’ to life. Such as the city of Amsterdam which flourishes in the bloom of its Keukenhof Gardens, the world’s largest flower garden with a colourful array of over 7 million planted bulbs. Walk, cycle or even take a boat trip round the gardens to enjoy the stunning surroundings and take some amazing photos.

This spectacular display is only short lived, opening at the end of March until 18th May (weather dependant), making spring the only time to see this great attraction, and well worth it. Visit their website www.keukenhof.nl for opening times, special events, shows and admission fees.

You’ll be sure to grab a great offer and avoid the queues in this magical city before the tourist rush in the summer. Choose from over 200 events in a range of differing cultural venues as the Budapest Spring Festival comes to life in the last two weeks of March each year, including opera, ballet, musicals and exhibitions.

With plenty to enjoy in the spring from outdoor events to wine and pálinka festivals this charmed city with its lower spring price tag is a steal!
