With it being only a few days away from the most romantic day of the year we are feeling the love at Osprey Holidays, so here are some of our finest romantic city break locations for 2014, with some top romantic activities to do in each.

Venice – “History lovers”

This ancient city is dubbed one of the most romantic cities in the world, surrounded by magical waters and beautiful architecture. Its picturesque setting is perfect.

Even its attractions are romantic, with a Gondola ride for two drifting slowly past stunning baroque and Renaissance buildings – just look out for the boat drivers with hats and striped tops to take you on a tour, it can however be pricey but definitely worth it.

With rich history, stunning architecture and a truly romantic appeal, take a visit to Teatro La Fenice one of the most prestigious opera houses in Europe. If you don’t fancy sitting through a whole performance then why not try their cocktail guided tour, taking you into the heart of the theatre to learn about its history and restoration, all topped off with a well-deserved cocktail in the classy Apollinee Halls!

Paris – “The City for lovers”

Possibly the first city that comes to mind when looking for romantic city breaks, with its iconic Eiffel Tower and Moulin Rouge charm.

Romance is on full view at the “Love Lock Bridges” Pont des Arts and more recently the Pont de l’Archevêché, where you will cast your eyes on thousands of padlocks each engraved with a message of love attached to the sides of the bridge, all placed by couples symbolising eternal devotion after throwing the key into the Seine river – a couples must.

Paris is possibly more beautiful at night with its spectacular panoramic views of some of the world’s most iconic sites. Take one of the many illuminated tours to wonder at the likes of the Eiffel Tower and take a selfie or two from 324 metres up looking over the wonders of the city of romance!

Milan – “Food lovers”

Oozing with luxury and sophistication this romantic city really does set the scene. With countless chic boutique hotels, such as the five star Boscolo Exedra showcasing a modern lavish décor and the largest spa in the city – it’s sure to impress!

Known for its great local cuisine like risotto and pannettone, Milan has many romantic restaurants offering some of the best food around. Situated in the Four Seasons Hotel lies Il Teatro Restaurant serving up true Italian recipes with locally sourced ingredients daily. One of the more romantic ways to enjoy this is through their cooking classes every Saturday morning where you will learn the secret of Italian cuisine.
