Pound vs Euro

The pound’s increase over the last year, 2014 – 2015

The clichéd term, ‘the time is now’ couldn’t be more appropriate in terms of a holiday to Europe with the pound at a 7-year high against the euro.

As I write on the 12th of March 2015, a Pound is worth just under 1.40 Euros, a staggering 16% more than a year ago. This means cheaper holidays to Eurozone destinations and substantial savings on things like the cost of accommodation, transfers, train tickets, food, drinks  and attraction tickets – in fact anything that Osprey buy in Euros or our clients buy whilst abroad. The pound in your pocket really will go much, much further.

For example, a hotel room in Paris at £200 a night a year ago will now only cost £168, a saving of £32 a night. Dinner in your favourite Parisian restaurant that might have cost £100 a year ago will now cost £84, a saving of £16. These savings can then be used for extra spending money, hotel upgrades or staying an extra night. It’s great news for British tourists!

So extras or luxuries that might have been out of reach may now fit the budget, allowing visitors the best possible holiday experience. There’s never been a better time for city break to a Eurozone destination!
